Seeing Fire

I came running to you in dire straits,

Just in total need of your love.

And I came to you in times of trouble,

When all I ever needed was to see your face.

But you turned me away, 

And returned to your selfish desires.

You didn't pay me the time of day,

So now that I'm looking back,

I am seeing fire.

You came to me in times of desperate need,

Just to see me laugh in your face,

When the only thing I did was pay you no heed.

And I turned you away,

And returned to my selfish desires,

I didn't pay you the time of day,

So now that you're looking back,

You are seeing fire.

Isn't it funny, the way  people tend to act?

We have to struggle just to keep our pact

Day after day, and year after year,

I look around to see only you near.

Try as I might, I cant help but see

That you are all I really need

Now I won't turn you away,

Or return to my selfish desires.

You deserve the time of day,

So now as we're looking ahead,

We are starting a fire
