Words

Words

A Poem by MichelleClay
"

I let you down

"

I watch salty tears stain the lines on the empty page

My pen hovers, desperate to write something to ease the pain

Instead it bleeds cold black ink, a few spots here and there to show I tried.

That I cared, but it was to little, that I loved but not as much as deserved.

If only love could be seen with the eye, like the words written on a page

At least then ‘sorry’ may actually mean something.

Painfully beautiful... you express so deeply the desire to communicate love clearly, and to be able to wash away the pain with heartfelt letters woven together from the fabric of the heart. If we all could see love "with the eye, like the words written on a page" how much more tender life would be.

This is powerful! I dont know what this is about but the intensity of comparing a feeling with a written word has perplexed writers and people forever!!

this is really great, i know what its like to try and write something while really upset and trying to get something out and cant do it. Its pretty good how you captured the feeling in words. Great work!

thought provoking and emotionally stirring - all too often people say sorry without realizing what they did wrong but just say the word without meaning to appear like they understand but never fully empathize with the person they hurt - most times when i'm driven to know that i am truly sorry i go into further detail of the behavior so the person can truly try to grasp that I will acknowledge the unconscious action that brought about the reaction.
