worn without fail every day
a fake smile
a melody to share
witnessed by few
ignored by many

 

a depressing poem
written as an outlet for pain
a cry for help
a plea for realization
shown to the only one
brushed off and forgotten

 

a fallen soldier
forgotten in the ongoing societal war
a simple nonentity
a lonely girl
truly known by none
trampled and left behind

 

a curt note
laid carefully in clear view
a final surrender
a tearstained goodbye
read but not pondered by any
abandoned as a distant memory

 

a desperate statement
overlooked in the days of Me
a red flag
a warning sign
meaningless to far too many
buried alone just like her
