Green Eyes Lined With Black

Green Eyes Lined With Black

A Poem by lost sock

Green eyes lined with black

Painted lips curled upward

Confidence radiates as she floats by

Crowds with turned backs

Fallen false-hearted smile

Her strut becomes a stagger

Empty apartment filled with darkness

Unmade bed cold and lonely

Tears glide down ashen cheeks

Trip down a street littered with strangers

Familiar face across the way

Memories inundate her heart

Blank stare with unwavering gaze

Dismissed advice burning yet chilling

The past passes her by again

Single tear with the expected sting

Refusal to succumb to weakness

She keeps going and hides it all behind

Green eyes lined with black
