What Lies Beyond

What Lies Beyond

A Poem by lost sock
"

Humans are flawed.

"

Stars sparkle invitingly
dusting the night sky with light.
Astronomers eagerly study to learn
what lies beyond.

Courageous explorers march
venturing out into the uncharted.
Within them, a burning desire to know
what lies beyond.

Technology reigns over us
being just as important as breathing.
Developers work diligently to create
what lies beyond.

Every day our fearless leaders
fight the unknown.
They plod on
learning, discovering, creating.

However, with knowledge
our society has been ruined.
We are arrogant in our success
thinking we have created the perfect world.

But our people are inhibitors
keeping true perfection from ever existing.
Far from brave, we are cowards
fearing the one thing we should welcome.

We look at a person's exterior
turning up our noses in disgust.
Afraid of diversity, we fail to seek
what lies beyond.

I find this ending a little bit simplistic.
