Ring Ring

Ring Ring

A Poem by Micheal Frank
"

Shapped as a poem. Story for many.

"
Ring ring.
I don't want to answer.
Ring ring.
I know it's him.
Ring ring.
I panic.
Ring ring.
I trip over my own feet.
BAM.
On the floor.
Help.
Me.
Ring ring.
He's calling again.
He always calls.
To see.
To see if I'm home.
Ring ring.
He doesn't know I'm running away.
Ring ring.
He doesn't know I've told on him.
Ring ring.
He knows.
Ring ring.
He knows everything.
Ring ring.
I fall again.
Hit my head.
Fuzzy out.
Fizzy in, I need to focus.
Grab the bag.
Knock knock.
He's here.
Oh god.
I flinch.
Where do I go?
Knock.
Knock.
Knock. Knock.
BAM.
Footsteps.
Mine and his.
Slow and steady, fast and messy.
Step.
Each stair I feel my air running out.
Help.
Me.
Top step.
He knows.
He always knows.
Ring ring.
"911 what is your emergency?"
