The Childless

The Childless

A Poem by The Poetry of Michal (Mitak) Mahgerefteh
"

About the poem: this poem was written after a photograph. Artist unknown.

"

The Childless

After a photograph entitled “Woman with Clown Doll”

I nurse the unborn in rich futile milk

snuggling perky breasts a lifeless touch

of porcelain child fluffed-laced in perfect

sew-stitch   I softly pull its breathless string

embrace happy-cries   broken-laughs

                        console my yearning heart
