Cramped

Cramped

A Chapter by Mich
"

When there's no room to move, you move to your own vibe.

"

"What?"

"Nothing."

"It doesn't sound like nothing. No, really. What's on your mind?" Tim knew her well enough to know that she was still grieving. He watched her walk away. He needed to say something, but nothing more to say came.

She was older. She didn't need him as a mentor. She needed space and she needed it now before things got too complicated. Complication gave her hives.

"Jane!" It was the best he could do.

"What?" She turned around, waiting...

Sighing, Tim heard the quiet; it was always so quiet before the whoosh of fear swept over him. "Can't you think about not going more?"

"Why would I want to do that?" Jane uncrossed her eyes. "I can't stay here. It's just not me. Being something I'm not."

"Then, I could go with you."

"No!"

That was clear enough, Tim thought, feeling like someone had just run a knife through his heart.

Jane turned and left.

Tim felt his heart stop beating.
