Forward Onto Dreams

Forward Onto Dreams

A Poem by Michael Dowell

Forward onto dreams I plead
While weeping, tired, tears I bleed
For me to fall asleep with speed
And take me far away

For within dreams I feel no pain
The monsters of my life are slain
Even as the white moon wanes
I am so far away

And as dawn breaks through my window
I will wake up, however slow,
And longing, for a place I know
Where I was far away
