The Afterlife of A Thought

The Afterlife of A Thought

A Poem by Michael X

Where is this realm full of ghosts and spirits,

or even the location of a particle?
In effect, our parallel universe.

Where is our parallel universe?

A place where we lived before we were born.

A place where we still exist as spirits.

Last midnight I had a dream

that I drank from a crystal stream

of knowledge so pure and so profound

my mind aged a thousand years.

In my vision

I see you wading through a shallow pool

where you stir the glassy water

with your fingerstips.

In a parallel universe I know you.

I know you in another life,

a place where we were never born.

I love it. I am sure poetry comes only from there. The place/time that is beyond the hypothesis of before and after. And we and our lives are but tiny physical manifestation of/in the same. I love the way your poems flow in simple language. Thank you for sharing.

There are many phenomena that might well point to such theories being true. Deja Vu for one, premonition , the Portguguese feeling called 'Suadade'.

I'm not even teasing you. but you know this was published right - in another such Universe?

This gets the reader's 'little grey cells' a workout. I appreciate that. Thank you Michael.

ha ha, that is classic, thanks for that funny comment!
I gravitated towards your title, and once I read the contents, I understand why...
I'm haunted by the unknown.
Lost deep inside a memory, I wish I could remember.. But these words echo a sentiment I have longed for. Thank you for sharing.

Hi and thanks for stopping by!
I really enjoyed this piece, Michael. So rich and vivid with its descriptions and word usage as a whole, it speaks to something that I'm always interested in reading about -- parallel universes, alternate realities, etc.

You do justice with this, taking something that is literally universal and sculpting it into something personal. Well done, brother.

Hey, thanks for the insightful comment!
where do thoughts go when leaving this life for another...there are many buried within poems...the epitaphs for all to read....

interesting concept of those thoughts that get caught in parallel universes...maybe they cause unintentional plagiarism sometimes....
one grabs from the subconscious...and some of those thoughts lie there.
