My Prayer

My Prayer

A Poem by Michael Thrower

Will you let me go?

Will I feel the same?

How can I be afraid

Within your warm embrace?

I must go deeper than shadows and sliver away.

How can I be the same?

Trembling voices long lost calling me, beckoning me

Whispered names of old ones torturing me

Will I return to you?

Will I save myself?

How can I be afraid

Within your warm embrace?

Into the darkness I’m cast straight out of your grace

Will I ever return?

Keeping the light in my mind and heart I will pass

Seeing through veils unknown but to the evil that escapes

Bless me on my road

Leave me not alone

Send your Ones to me

That I may come back to you.

I will fight on till end has been reached and it’s done

Keeping your light in my heart and my mind as one

Lend me your wings that I’ll fly to victory

Save my soul so I won’t be lost, I will do whatever the cost…

Alright, I must spend too much time on social sites, because I am looking for the like button. The first time I read this I read it as a love letter. The second time I realized it was a prayer to God, but hey that can be much like a love letter, too. Nice one!

Within a warm embrace...then anything is possible even when the veil to other worlds lift and we are physically separated but the implication is always that we will meet again. You've written a lovely poem.

I liked the the pattern of questions..
I wish if it be continued in the sixth para too.
May be I am not too good at it.
