50 Shades of Lies

50 Shades of Lies

A Poem by Michael Thrower
"

This one IS actually inspired after I read and discussed 50 Shades of Grey.

"

It’s all in perception

A new, general direction

To face your mind

In the state of a blind

To believe what’s not

You seek what’s been sought

Twist of reality

To make casualty

You think what is wrong

As if it were right.

Propaganda read

Copyright bred

Domination said

To snap in her head.

Reading those words

Believing the deceiving

That says it should be

“This way’s more pleasing”.

Downgrading humankind

Losing our hope

We cling to examples

Reliving a joke.

Author's Note

Michael Thrower
A discussion I had with a friend about 50 Shades of Grey "Making women believe THIS is how they should act". Now, I haven't taken any sides on this yet, but on the side that says "It's just not right" is where I'm leaning, and thus... I wrote this.

Hi Michael,
I love the way you end your lines with opposite words that rhyme, you give this piece a melodic ring that just let's the words flow as you gracefully let them roll on your tongue.
Your point: Made
Understood: Definitely, you show that not everything you read should be the basis of how you act towards life or a situation.
I agree with your words that there's always two sides of a story. You as a viewer, reader, have to decide on which side you take.
Language: Exquisite and understandable, you made this fun and understandable to read

This was interesting the way you told this and it's strange because I feel many don't understand the real meaning behind these books. I'm not going to say I'm an expert on this, but my say on it is that if people want a love like "Fifty Shades of Grey", then so be it, but it shouldn't be because they feel forced into it. The books explain WHY Christain Grey is the way he is, WHY he's been into such dominant stuff. I feel Anastasia was uncomfortable with most of it, but in the end, she chose to accept him no matter what he was like. People think these books are just about sex when really there IS a powerful story behind it, but women shouldn't degrade themselves into things they aren't comfortable with. Anastasia wasn't comfortable with it, but she did her best to try. She did and though the struggle was tough, she found love. Love comes in all types, but it's up to that person to CHOOSE to accept the person for who and how they are in order to find the right kind of love they deserve.

Ohh thank you! :D I'm glad you enjoyed ;)
I haven't read it yet but I guess it's about BDSM, yes? Doesn't Avy just love that? lol Well I'm going to take your poem based on my general point of view, the way I am, the way I look at certain things and the way I take them. I guess what's wrong and what's right depends on the logical level of a certain person. I'm sure I've said this but I'm going to say it again anyway. What maybe wrong for you may not be wrong to others. A gagged woman may look tortured to you but may look like an Italian dish for Avy. In this changing wor|d, it's hard to conclude what's wrong and what's right. Others may look at me as Asian w***e but I look at it as westernized Asian. So really, it's hard to tell. Much harder to judge. Oh, sorry I'm getting far off.. lol Thank you for sharing Michael. A good write for a long discussion:)

And this is your freshman year... think what senior year will bring...

Learning the who that we are is something we do ...sometimes well, and yet often not. Seems people will always end up being held to others' judgements - real or imagined.

50 Shades of Grey has a lot of psychological effect to the readers because of the two main characters

I've heard about it, and i have not read it... books are foods for the thoughts... it feeds our dreams and fantasy... its an escape from the real world... the thing is people take it too much to their core that they have to apply it without basic or logical thinking, meaning how set aside the real one to the fantasy of thoughts... we have to remember that our world is not perfect... fiction is not real, though if it happens then its a mere coincidence...
I like this lines and i agree:

Twist of reality
To make casualty
You think what is wrong
As if it were right.
