ForevermoreA Poem by Michael MirandaOnce upon a starlit night While
the moon was shining bright I
gazed into my chambers And
begat an eerie sight
My
demons flying all around As
silent as smoke, they ne’er uttered a sound I
collapsed into my chair And
then clamped shut my eyes My
body became frigid These
demons had me paralyzed
I
began to see my memories Oozing
from my brain I
let out a scream that shook that house I
was on the brink of going insane
I
fought them off as best I could I
fought with all my might But
alas they were too strong for me I
gave into my demons on that night
I
picked up quill and ink With
paper on the desk I
knew I had to tell my tale Before
they gave me any rest:
It
was a time too long ago Millennia
it seemed I
lost the heavenly love of my life My
beautiful Mina Serene This
maiden she lived with no other mission Than
to be my earthly queen As
the fates conspired against us As
her family and friends did the same We
stood steadfast together We
made it through the pain
On
the night I was to propose to her My
life was forever to change When
I got to her house I saw on the floor Her
blood spelled out in my name
I
looked above the message And
my body was drained of hope For
there I saw dearest Mina Serene With
her neck constrained in a rope I
cut her down and held her close I
gave her my good-byes I
places my fingers overtop of her lids Forever
shutting her beautiful eyes
I
buried her over that Christmas I
buried her deep in the ground Roses
were placed on top of her grave No
one uttered a sound
I
said my good-byes and I shed my tears All
the tears that I had to shed I
promised to carry her kisses and love Forever
around in my head
I
stayed at her site From
morning to night While
the moon was starting to thin I
said my goodbye and started to cry With
the howling of the wind I
turned around slowly with head bowed lowly And
began to walk away I
knew in my heart That
we’d never part I’ll
see her again someday. © 2012 Michael Miranda |
