InnocenceA Poem by Michael Iam BoneThis poem was written in 2014 and tells an important aspect of my life. If you have any comments, please be respectful.“I’m interested in how innocence fares when it collides with hard reality.” -- Geoffrey S. Fletcher The world has enough martyrs, it’s just People don’t care about them anymore. Once upon a time and thirteen painful years Ago, I was so full of innocence and not of sickle Soul. Thinking if I was nice then everyone would Be nice back, I soon found out the hard way Kindness isn’t people’s knack. Yet I believed, man could be changed, as in rock God Once wrote, that mom and dad are never wrong, and They said this, I quote: “As Christians we know the full truth, and God above is Real. He made all things, he loves us all, and gives Our every meal. As Catholics we believe in our eternal Bond of love. We love you and you should not fear, God watches from above.” Yet as the lonely years went by, my soul began to Cry, the world kept getting worse and worse, yet Hopeless it was nigh. As long as I had God and both My parents at my side, the hopelessness of life was Never stormy, deep, or wide. But then one day they sat me down, and told me ‘bout Their pact, and how they had destroyed it, saying it was Love it lacked. And as I sit there frozen still, unable to Compute, the world around me turned to black, while God became a mute. © 2017 Michael Iam Bone |
