LostA Poem by Michael Gentry
Lost
I'm not myself
shouting inside
I'm what you want
can't feel I'm ashamed
You didn't understand You use to hold my hand You use to call my name And I knew that I'd be saved
My life unfolds
You where there to pull the string
Do what you want
You've taken everything
You don't understand
You used to hold my hand
You used to call my name
And I knew that I'd be saved
I have sacrifice myself
You laughed at me
I bared my soul
And you mock me still
I gave you my heart and you kept it for a time
Until between then cushion found Like a forgotten dime
You don't understand
You used to hold my hand
You used to call my name
And I knew that I'd be saved
I let myself be fooled again
This is the last time, never again
Throughout the millennia they have come and gone
The women who only want to do me harm
You don't understand
You used to hold my hand
You used to call my name
And I knew that I'd be saved
As she approached, silver tray in hand
Still wondering, "Who I Am"
The Echos of those who came before
With the lips of Poe screaming "Nevermore"
You don't understand
You used to hold my hand
You used to call my name
And I knew that I'd be saved
