Crack & Pains

Crack & Pains

A Poem by MichaelG.

Let's auction off my exhaustion,
one memory for each sweat drop
if you're looking to buy, better get a mop
gather up the onslaught
and embrace each and every time I've fought
let's trade: thought for thought

If we're really being honest,
let me write all my thoughts on this list
gonna need another pen because this one will run out of ink
because I'll never run out of thoughts to think
Wait, I'm writing with a pencil full of lead,
and I'm wishing I could quiet my head
Actually my ideas are being traced in graphite
This lack of sleep is dimming my light
and making me want to surrender the daily fight for life

I'm not sure how much more or why I take it
Going through the days, only a couple where I don't have to fake it
sitting here in making my feet fall asleep
and now I'm realizing I might be in too deep
with no way out or anyone I want to keep
Cracks and pains coming from my ankles,
I don't wanna be another one simply struggling to dangle

Each step is forcing cramps in my stomach
warning me of all the pain that's coming
Surrounded by mediocrity
still isn't making me take pity
Cause I can't find anyone who deserves it in this city

Putting shoes on again,
pain and panting seem to be my only friend
"Just do it" is what I'm being told my Nike
With the right psyche, every day looks ripely
