I Return

I Return

A Poem by Me

I return,
dead and weary.
A dead bug
under my eyes.
Told to me
in the library
of bargain heroes
full of lies.

I return,
left out and centred.
Strictly speaking,
still in disguise.
I was in Government,
a drug in my eyes.

I return,
old and wasted.
Crippled
large and small.
Winter coming closer
on a man yet to fall.
Thought that I was married
to the pocket full of sighs.

I return,
young and indifferent,
in the noon of the day.
Thought that,
no matter what,
I'd never rid
my eyes
of the bug.

I would love to know the inspiration for this Michael. I don't dare try and guess bc most often when folks do that to my writing, they're way off. This is unique and interesting indeed. I just can't pretend to understand it from your perspective.

The poem told a amazing story. The poem open the door to thoughts of why things happen and the payment can be permanent for many. I enjoy this kind of poetry. Need to be read with patience. Thank you for the outstanding poem.
