Hope

Hope

A Poem by Michael Huffam
"

Something for those people in my life that are most important

"

Since we met it doesn’t feel so long

I just can’t believe that you’re almost gone

It seems like yesterday we became so close

Your love and kindness almost made me overdose

This is so unreal this feeling I feel

This event of mine happens like a cycling wheel

When I start to love and be there for them

Then one day it just breaks like a stem

I just need something to pull me up with a rope

I just need to start feeling hope

I’ll miss that smile, I’ll miss our laughs

Do you think that you’ll ever come back?

I’ll miss those hugs I so tightly hold

When they are gone I’ll feel so cold

Hope just might not be enough

To get through the rough

You may not know this now or maybe never

But my love for you will last forever

Just remember I’ll be there for you wherever

You go, and we’ll see each other sometime whenever

So till that day comes I’ll learn to cope

As long as I have an inch of hope

An inch of…

Hope

Aww. This is sweet. I'm a bleeding heart and love a good rhyme, so I enjoyed this. It's endearing and I can tell you genuinely care for the people you had in mind when you wrote it. However, if I'm giving a completely honest review, I have to say that the flow bothered me a bit. I don't know if that was at all a concern for you, but it threw reading the poem off. I would read, catch a rhythm and then a massive line would come out of nowhere and derail me. Anyway, I liked it overall.
