The SermonA Story by LaMarcus ChildrousA Preacher only concerned with himself.
ftentimes, we get caught up in our own tangle of webs. We are in our own way. We can block our own blessings when we think we have all the answers. Not only do we think that we know our personal answers, we think that we know others as well. As we are our own judge, trying to rewrite our manual, we leave out our blessings. Our job may be blessing others. Our job may be taking others with us. We will never know this if we act as our own judge. Bob wanted to reach God, and he wanted to reach him in the physical sense. He wanted to climb the highest mountain in the world because he was told that God would be there waiting for him. So Bob decided that he was going to get there by any means necessary.
He put it in his mind that he would go in the next thirty days. He told his assistant to book him a flight to the mountain which was in another country. After the assistant tried to book the flight, she was told that the flight would only carry him so far because they would be entering a no fly zone.
From then, he would need to catch a boat ride since the plane could only go so far. Bob did not like the idea of plane to boat. He agreed with the terms because he wanted to go meet God. The time for the flight quickly came.
As he was getting ready to go to the airport, he saw another man that told him that he wanted to go also. Well Bob refused the man and told him that he should schedule his own time to meet God.
Now, right before Bob had left for the airport, he called a meeting with his trusted circle from his congregation. He meets them and brags about his upcoming event which was to go and see God. They asked Bob to bring back the message from God.
The next day Bob went to the airport, his ticket was there waiting for him and he flew on his way. Upon getting to the destination, Bob knew that he would have to ride a boat to get him across the water.
Bob got on the boat and travelled to get to the country of the mountain. When he got there, he saw the mountain and told others around him the he was about to run straight to the mountain and meet God. So, as Bob started getting ready to run he saw another fella who wanted to see God too and stated that he wanted to run but didn’t have adequate tennis shoes for the run. The man shoes were torn. Bob saw the man shoes and told him that he needed to buy himself a new pair of shoes. Bob also told the man that he could not afford his shoes.
Bob takes off in a sprint to the mountain and another man saw him and knew where Bob was running to and started running with Bob. As they ran about a quarter mile, the man got tired and Bob told him that he was out of shape and Bob kept running.
Now Bob is closer to the mountain and he is trying to get there fast as he can. He is so close and he stops running and start walking. Another person gets on the side of Bob and start talking and Bob says that the other person smells bad. He says “You need some soap.”
Bob finally got to the mountain. Angels where clapping and welcomed Bob. Then they asked Bob “who did you bring with you?” Bob said that he came by himself. At this time Bob did not know what to think.
Finally, the Angels said to Bob “We surrounded you with a lot of people. We surrounded you with a whole congregation and staff to do your work. The staff that you left behind was praying for you. They were praying when you told that man back there that he wasn’t in shape. They were praying for you when you weren’t. The person that you told that he need a pair of shoes, he walked. Your circle in your congregation is waiting for you to come with this message. They were with you waiting until the whole congregation was in one circle of people and not who you hand selected. The person who you said need some soap donated the 3 dollars that he had to support your cause. Your assistant had a private fundraiser for you to get here. We have the manual for you and your life. You are supposed to bring 1000 people with you. The reason that it was a no fly zone is because it was designed to accommodate 1000 people. There was food waiting and you didn’t get that memo because you were in your own way. You didn’t hear anything and you played by your own rules. You judged people and the people that you judged were the ones helping you. Now that we have you with us, what shall we do with you? You are selfish; you didn’t bring any family, friends, associates, helpers, or anyone that you ran into. Why should we continue to let you live. You are here at this very moment off of the sweat and finances of other people. You left your whole congregation behind.
