There is an empty hole that cannot be filled,
but the feel of making music, fulfilled.
Picking up the blue case,
Putting the stand in place,
I open the zippers and undo the straps,
My heart soars at the first contact.
With the wood that feels like home to my hand,
I rosin up the bow, this is my home-land.
Running across the strings, the horse hair tightened,
I begin to feel my spirits lighten.
Fingers along the strings,
I forget about all the sad things.
Nothing exists except me and my art,
Everything else is worlds apart.
As the first few notes glide into the air,
I feel as if they could take me anywhere.
From the bottom of the sea in a peaceful bliss,
To the clouds with a soft humoresque.
This is my home, this is my world,
Me standing there, my fingers curled,
Along the smooth wood, my story unfurls.
This is my home, this is my place,
Away from the things I don't want to face.
This is my peace, this is my bliss,
This is where everything comes to innocence.
This is my hobby, this is my life,
This is something I will never sacrifice.
This is excacty how I feel when I just even listen to an instrument such as a viola or a violin. My mind floats as my heart becomes light. But for me, there is a sadness there as well. I could never afford to learn to play such a gorgeous instrument. I envy those who can. And to know of someone who puts such love into his playing as I put into listening to the beautiful music they make, it almost takes my breath away.
This poem captures those feelings. Very well written. ^_^ Thank you so much for putting it on here.
I loved it, i play violin/fiddle, and totally get what you mean. it really aplies to all instroments tough. I play a few other instroments (piano, frnech horn, recorder, flute, bass gutare, gutare, vocals) and during all of those, the music carries away all pain, and suffering, and unless your playg strakvki, your relaxed too. lol
I played the violin for three years. I definitely relate!
You have so much talent in writing and the truth behind your words just take my breath away.
Your good, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

I love how this not only applies to your viola, but it could work for a violin or even a cello as well. It's what I've always felt but never known how to put into words. Thank you! It's beautiful!
I really love it when writers create poems about music and art, which are actually two things that are similar yet different. It's just beautiful, and they can always put their passion into it. GREAT JOB!
Hey there, happy that someone is reading this. :) My name is Micco. I've always loved reading, and decided at a young age that I liked writing too. I could write long stories, but they didn't have a v.. more..
