Oceans promise

Oceans promise

A Poem by Mia
"

Two eggs...one basket

"

I will not cry as the current takes you from me

The ocean whispers sweet promises to me

As I watch the back and forth movements of the water

I am assured you will find your way back to me

And once again my heart will find peace

My sun will be your sun

In the day it watches over me for you

In my night it returns back to you, my sweet

While it’s with you, please know I am safe

For the moon has come to take its place

My heart and yours have merged as one

No way to tell which parts are yours, and which are mine

Yet at this moment we’re far apart

The distance has done nothing to harm

The special place you have in me

I’ll listen to the oceans promise

And once again my heart will find peace

Author's Note

Mia
My big brother is moving far away, I just wanted to write him something so he knows how special he is to me! Whenever we would fight my mother would say "you’re the only two eggs in my basket, don’t crack each other". It’s one of those silly things that stuck. Anyhow my point his I'm going to miss him a lot.

the last thing my sister did that created a feeling was to throw a remote at my head (we were a lot younger)
but we have a bond - just as this poem expresses so wonderfully

No way to tell which parts are yours, and which are mine

oh how special those words are...stand up and bow without getting an inflated head please

Family is just that. No matter what happens...is said...is thought..they are there as a never ending promise to stand beside you when you call. I think he would be proud to have a sibling who thinks so highly of him as to write this beautiful work. (I love the ocean and the way you folded the two together is stunning) :)

You're too kind, thank you ever so much :D
I too thought you had written about a lover, until I read you Author's Note. What a special relationship you and your brother must have. It brings to my mind the loneliness my daughter felt for her brother when he went off to join the Army.

I, too, assumed the poem dealt with the separation of lovers until reading your message. The theme is sensitive and captivating. A bit more caution with meter and an economy of words but it's a work deserving congratulations.

Thank you Doc :)
I will try to be more cautious.
'The distance has done nothing to harm ~ The special place you have in me'..

Tis such a hole when someone precious moves away, that's how it is - like a limb temporarily indisposed. And when people go from earth to sky, tis something hard to take until you realise that love never disappears, it's only the outside that's missing, that the years of romping together or the time spent in silent togetherness, never goes and, never, never will fade. It can't. Love for siblings is encapsulated in the heart along with parents' and the bestest best of friends'. As you so obviously know, dear Mia, that's what love is.

He'll always be there, love ..

Wow Mia, your big brother would be very proud of you for something this magnificent...I can't believe what a great writer you are...I am an expert and lover of words and your use of describing physical objects such as the ocean and the sun in such gorgeous ways is absolutely stunning...Describing the current in ways of the heart coming back to you was definitly brilliant...It is writers like you that make me glad to be a reviewer...Great job Mia...Keep it up!!! Once again, your brother will love this, when you pour your heart into something so great its hard not to notice...Great job again Mia :o)

what a beautiful you you are..

i remember too when all three of my brothers one by one all left for the service.. my first brother to leave was only 17 at the time. I was 16. oh how we cried as all the brothers and a couple very close friends saw them off at our going away get together for him. the next brother to go was the twin of my first brother that went. that was alot...... of years ago. they both passed away this year. this has been the hardest year of my life so far, but its gotten better, finally.. as time has put some distance between me and such sorrows. oh gosh.. life is just so damn short and sad sometimes.. but we cant let such things keep us down. that wouldnt be fair to their them, in the least bit. or to us.

you are a good sister Mia with a loving heart as big as this ocean that you speak of. the trick to keeping them close and happy even if they are apart.. is to live your life blissfully and unafraid. the sea.. thats a good promise. a body of briny tear, of sadness sometimes.. but only if we let it.

bon voyage and godspeed to your dear brother

be happy for one another, everything is going to be just fine

:)

This was beautiful. I hope he got to read this! He was inspiration for a wonderful poem. I loved how you described the sun watching over both of you when it's up in your zones and then the moon taking over.

And I loved the idea of the current coming and going just like he will be going and coming back. :)
