Beyond the Looking Glass We Go

Written following the effects of the 2017 eclipses.

Look and see the majesty
The fact that you can jump through seams

Beyond the looking glass we go
To a place i think I know

Familiarity is mistaken
Common sense forsaken

Many rules are broken
Loyalty misspoken

Ripples through time
Lives intertwine

Reality fades
Logic has strayed
Many questions are prayed
A retrograde
A serenade
Lost to the wind
With a new phase
It waxes on
To cast a shadow
And reconsider
Where is our place
In this mirror
What do we know?
It need be clearer

You've written a poem that only a person with considerable life experiences could write. This is wisdom in a few relatively brief verses. It was richer with every read (three times for me). Maybe we should put this poem in school books. Do you think the youngsters would understand it? Probably not. Because until you've lived, you can't write convincingly about it. It's brilliant and amazing how natural events like that can offer us fresh perspectives and clarity, and it's remarkable when captured in a brief poem. Nice work!

Thank you R.E. Ray. It truly is magical when we can capture these moments. The poem almost writes itself in attempts to understand certain events. I published this at this time in anticipation of the current eclipses. Not everyone will understand, but many may find themselves now on such trajectories.
