What befalls us
What ails us
What troubles
And stales us
What bitters
What dims
The light deep within
What finds it
What feeds it
What lights it aflame?
What triggers
What stings
What breaks
And what heals
What mends
What rights
The wrongs
What might
What meek
What sleep
Shall we awaken from?
Interesting meditation on the malaise that hampers many lives. I think the poet is talking about a higher level of consciousness, "the light deep within." We all have it, but often the effects of our conscious lives make it seem inaccessible. The last two lines pose the vital question: "What sleep/ Shall we awaken from?" Perhaps that is the task, simply to awaken. It would be interesting to see a sequel about how to achieve that awakening.

What I took away was awareness. Being aware of the "what" and being mindful of our selves. Striving to understand the what and not merely existing. I enjoyed the rhythm of this. Thank you for sharing
