The Tree of Green LeavesA Poem by Hazem ElashaalA field of green, Home to a tree, The tree of green leaves, Doormat to the rising sun, Subject to the sovereignty of seasons, Neighbor to the bushes of white flowers, Home of many chirps, Host to the parasite of love, Tattoos of forgotten love etched into the skin of the tree, A result of foolishness and inexperience. This is not the tree's greatest pain however, This tree bears witness to the tales of forgotten love, Stories of what could have been, The majesty the stem of love could fruit. But the tree is grounded by it's roots, A reminder that it is chained to reality, The tree bears witness to the death of love.
