Waiting

Darkness clouds my vision,

as I lay on the frozen ground

 

Blood seeps from reopened wounds,

but none see my pain

 

His voice mocks me,

yet I can only lay there

 

The pain never comes,

no matter how many times the knife enters my body

 

I am numb

 

The tears refuse to fall,

locked away they laugh at my pain

as I beg from their gentle caress

 

He does nothing,

laughing as he walks away

 

Day and night, he haunts me 

as I lay on that bed of ice

 

Darkness clouds my vision,

and I await Death's kiss

Reading this wonderfully, deliciously decadent poem is like being ravaged by a serial killer. You want to run, to turn away...but you find you can't make yourself do it. Just as in a dream, where you run and it almost seems like you're running in quicksand. His haunting laughter echoes and resonates behind imaginary audio, you can almost sense how close he is, but you are powerless to stop it.

the way you create that feeling of fear as death creeps over us...and sneers at our agonizing pain, waiting...it sends chills down my spine. nicely written.
