Your Own Worst VillainA Poem by Metaphantomyup.Lost on the top of the mountain trying to move the s**t / Hanging by a root off a cliff, about to lose my grip / Life dances to your song, it resists the station though / If you aren’t playing what it wants to hear, it’s blatant so / That’s how I came to this rut, I need to climb out of / Proposing to myself, what my next move is, like, what now huh? / You can’t part the sea, you can’t push the mountain’s around you / Everyone who should have been profound in your life kicked you down too / Shouldn’t astound you, those of whom should’ve loved you most / Didn’t give you loving growth, that’s when you happened to become a ghost / Found that love and hate were both, the same thing sometimes called fear / Lying alone in your room crying, some nights writing, trying to make it clear / But this rainfall, this fog and thoughts sounding like a chainsaw with voices / Annoyances, plus a clairvoyant kid, so your brain all tangled with choices / And none of them you came up with, ego, shadow, more demons to battle / Drag you through the gravel while you unravel, you now know you are fragile / De-pres-sion, had me, trying to deep rest in, found myself with anxiety / Flying awake violently, breaking outside of the matrix, not every eye can see / I start to laugh because I don’t know what the truth is, lie to me, that’s ruthless / Your whole life it seems is one great big lie, schizophrenic toothpick for the toothless / The villain who has enough power to crash your roof in, pull your roots then find out it's you….. Your own worst villain. © 2018 Metaphantom |
