Chapter Eighteen

Chapter Eighteen

A Chapter by Neeeks!

Amanda was hopping in her place, gripping the barrier in front of her as she stared up at the stage. It had been a few minutes since the crew had finished setting up the equipment for Green Day, but none of the band members had come out. She leaned forward, resting her lower abdomen on the barrier as she tried to peer behind the stage, trying to stay balanced as people around them pushed against her while trying to get to the barrier themselves.

"Dude, what's taking them so long? Seriously," she muttered. "I want them out here already."

Ingrit laughed, pulling her friend off the barrier so that they were standing next to each other again.

"Relax, would you?" Ingrit said with a smile. "I can see Billie backstage talking to Mike. They should be coming out soon."

"Good," Amanda frowned. "I really want to see them play."

Ingrit shook her head and let out a heavy sigh before looking over at her friend.

"I thought you didn't really like them," Ingrit commented. "Why so impatient?"

"Because I'm an impatient person?" Amanda answered shrugging her shoulders. "I don't like the wait between bands; it takes too long to get things taken down and set up again."

"Patience is a virtue." Ingrit replied with a smile.

"Yeah, right," Amanda muttered, rolling her eyes. "A virtue I'll probably never have."

Ingrit didn't say anything, knowing that what Amanda said was probably true; that girl never could seem to sit still when she really wanted to do something. Amanda turned her head to look at the person standing on her other side as she was elbowed in the side and pushed into Ingrit. It was another girl, pulling her boyfriend up along side her. There wasn't enough room so she elbowed Amanda again.

"Would you move?" the girl asked when Amanda refused to budge.

"Excuse me?" Amanda replied, raising an eyebrow at the girl.

"I said move," the girl sighed. "I want my boyfriend up here with me."

"Yeah, well, that's too bad," Amanda retorted, pushing the girl to the side as she went back to her original spot. "We were here first."

"Um, no you weren't. We were up here when Muse was playing," the girl stated. "We simply left momentarily to get some food."

"Um, too bad? Your name isn't on this part of the barrier, and you weren't here when we got here. Finders keepers, losers weepers."

Ingrit looked over at the girl as she glared at Amanda. The girls boyfriend didn't look very enthused about his girlfriend quarreling with Amanda. He rested a hand on her shoulder and muttered something in her ear. Neither Amanda nor Ingrit heard what he had said, but they both saw the look that flashed across the girls face.

"But I wanted to be up front the entire time," she whined. "Why do you want to go back up there? We won't be able to see as well."

"I only came to see Muse perform and I was up front for them. That's good enough for me," he sighed. "Besides, we aren't staying for the entire show- I work in the morning, in case you forgot -and it's going to be hell trying to get out of the mosh pit once Green Day's show has started."

"But-"

"Let's go get a seat at one of the tables before they're all taken."

Amanda and Ingrit watched as the girl lowered her head in defeat, following her boyfriend out of the mosh pit. They didn't miss the glare she shot back at them, though, and Amanda laughed.

"Well, that was easier than I thought it was going to be," Amanda said while turning to face Ingrit. "Good thing, too. If her boyfriend hadn't of made her go with him, I would have kicked her a*s all the way to China."

Ingrit smiled, rolling her eyes.

"I have awesome secret ninja skills, you know," Amanda added, nodding her head. "I can do stuff you only wish you could."

"They aren't exactly 'secret ninja skills' if you tell everyone about them," Ingrit pointed out. "I hope you realize this."

Amanda waved her hand dismissively, blowing some of her hair out of her face.

"They are too secret because you don't know what ninja skills I have, silly."

Ingrit sighed, staring at her friend who was smiling like a child in a candy store. When she finally thought of something to say, she opened her mouth only to close it again an instant later as the members of Green Day came running onto the stage.

"Sorry to have kept you guys waiting," Billie said when he grabbed his microphone. "We were a bit unorganized, but everything is all set now."

"Someone had to go and lose their drumsticks," Mike added, glancing back at Tré who raised his hands slightly and ducked his head.

People in the crowd cheered and laughed.

"Nice," Ingrit laughed. "I'd probably end up doing something like that a lot."

"So would I, most likely..." Amanda sighed.

"Yeah, but whatever you would have lost would be in plain sight the entire time," Ingrit joked, resulting in Amanda playfully pushing her.

The girls missed what Billie said next while they were conversing with one another, but they looked up at him as the guys started playing, people packing closer together in their desire to get as close to the stage as possible.
