Chapter Ten

Chapter Ten

A Chapter by Neeeks!

Ingrit read the signs as they drove by, counting the exit numbers and noting all the mile markers. Her body started to shake, her knuckles turning white when her grip on the steering-wheel tightened.

"Oh my God, Manderz," she breathed. "We're almost there!"

Amanda sat up in her seat, leaning forward slightly. Her mouth was open as she turned to her side, pressing her hands and face to the window next to her.

"Really? How close? Five minutes? Ten? Two?" she asked, getting more and more excited with each number she listed. "Twelve? Half a second?"

Ingrit gave her an odd look at the last number Amanda had said. Half a second? That wasn't logically possible; they were still on the highway. Amanda simply laughed and turned to face her friend.

"What? I was joking," Amanda laughed. "I know we aren't that close."

Ingrit simply shook her head, smiling, and focused on her driving again. She'd be damned if she got in a car accident with her sisters car, especially when only her brother knew she was borrowing it in the first place, and she'd never forgive herself if she missed the concert over such a minor and stupid mistake.

"Two more exits, not even three miles to go," she whispered, her voice inaudible over the music.

"What?" Amanda questioned, turning the music all the way down.

"What? Oh, that. I said that there's only two exits left," she answered. "Not even three miles to go."

Amanda smiled and watched her friend.

"I'm surprised," she commented, observing Ingrit as she drove. "I'm more jumpy than you. I thought it would be the other way around."

"I thought so too," Ingrit replied. "I'm not as calm as I was when we left the house, though; each time I see another marker informing us of how close we're getting, my heartbeat speeds up."

Amanda smiled, laughing at Ingrit's remark. Ingrit didn't look in her direction. Nor did she bother to ask what Amanda had found so humorous; she found everything funny.

"Is this the exit?" Amanda asked, looking over at Ingrit who was shaking her head.

"The next one," Ingrit answered, pointing a sign off to the side.

Amanda peered through the window at that sign. It read 'Worcester, Massachusetts - Exit Eighty-nine'. They had just gone by exit eighty-eight. Both girls were smiling, their excitement growing more and more. Time seemed to have slowed as they drove by the mile markers, the exit coming into view.

"There it is!" Amanda screamed, grabbing Ingrit's arm with one hand as she pointed toward the exit. "There's the exit!"

She didn't realize she was shaking Ingrit's arm until Ingrit pulled her arm from Amanda's grasp.

"Don't make me crash, damn it," she exclaimed. "And I see it."

Amanda hugged herself, trying to stop herself from shaking so violently. Her smile was as wide as it could possibly get, and she let out a squeal of joy when they turned onto the exit.

"Dude, this is amazing," Amanda chirped. "You and me, Inks, going to a Tokio Hotel concert... Without adult supervision!"

"I know!" Ingrit laughed.

"Although, I do think I count as adult supervision seeing as to how I'm eighteen," Amanda pointed out. "Sucks being only seventeen, doesn't it?"

"Only for a few more months," Ingrit answered, slowing down slightly as they reached downtown Worcester.

Ingrit followed the signs that led them farther into Worcester, already knowing the route by heart from previous concerts she had seen there. The streets were busy with people who were trying to get home, finally getting out of work. The girls had expected afternoon traffic, glad they had managed to avoid it on the highway.

"Just a couple more blocks," Ingrit smiled, her gaze resting on a somewhat-empty parking lot down the streets from their destination; the location of the concert; the Palladium.
