Chapter Seven

Ingrit slid out of Krystel's room, closing the bedroom door behind her. She let go of the door when she heard the lock slip into place. Amanda went to say something, but stopped when Ingrit quickly ran into her room.

"The door is over there," Amanda stated, pointing at the kitchen door. "Krystel's car is calling your name, in case you can't hear it."

Ingrit stepped out of her room a minute later, turning off her light and shutting the door behind her. She gave Amanda a puzzled look, causing her friend to smile.

"What?" Amanda asked, her voice bathed in innocence.

Ingrit didn't say anything, simply shaking her head as she looked up at that ceiling. Amanda looked up.

"What are you looking at?"

"Nothing," Ingrit answered with a sigh. "Let's go."

Amanda smiled and ran out the door, not bothering to hold it for Ingrit as she jumped off the steps. Ingrit followed at a slower pace, knowing Amanda wouldn't be able to get in the car until she unlocked it. Branden was still in the backyard with Mindy, watching her run in circles around the yard. When Mindy saw Ingrit and Amanda walking toward the car, she ran toward them, stopping short when she had gone as far as her leash would allow her, the line becoming taut. She stopped pulling on her leash as she let out a cough, stepping back slightly so that her collar wasn't pressed against her throat anymore.

"The poor puppy!" Amanda exclaimed, running over to Mindy.

Mindy instantly looked up as Amanda's voice reached her, jumping up on her hind legs as she tried to stretch herself a bit, trying to reach Amanda. Ingrit watched as Amanda knelt down on the ground next to Mindy, running her hands through Mindy's golden-brown fur. Mindy's tail was wagging quickly as she hopped up and down, her neck straining as she tried to give Amanda kisses. Amanda turned her face away from Mindy, scrunching her nose as she tried to hold Mindy down.

It took a moment for Mindy to calm down, and Amanda looked down at her as she continued to pet the dogs soft fur. Opening her mouth in another smile, Mindy stared up at Amanda, quickly launching herself up. Her tongue ran over Amanda's lips and cheek, causing Amanda to lose her balance as she reeled backwards, her hands flying up to cover her face, shielding it from Mindy.

"Ew! Icky! Doggy germs," she exclaimed, rolling away from Mindy who started barking, her tail wagging again. "That's so gross!"

Ingrit burst into a fit of laughter, watching as her friend got up off the ground, wiping her hands and arms over her face over and over again. She didn't bother to brush the dirt off as she walked back toward the car, using the back of her hands to wipe the dog saliva off her face. Amanda stopped for a moment when she saw Ingrit laughing at her, only to walk over to her friend and wipe her hands off on Ingrit's arm.

"Ew," she laughed, pulling away from Amanda. "That was so mean."

She rubbed her arm, sticking her tongue out at Amanda.

"You laughed at me," Amanda said, pouting as she stood next to the car.

"Well, you should have known she was still going to try and kiss you," Ingrit pointed out, unlocking the door on her side before unlocking the rest of the car. "She does that to you every time."

"She is a clever puppy..." Amanda commented, staring at the dashboard. "But I shall outsmart her some day!"

Ingrit watched as Amanda pumped her fist into the air as she made her declaration, only to quickly pull her hand back down when it collided with the roof of the car. Amanda held her wounded hand in her other, holding it against her chest as she frowned at her momentary stupidity.

"Owie..." she whimpered. "That hurt."

She looked down at her hand before looking at Ingrit. Smiling slightly, she held her hand out.

"Wanna kiss my booboo?" she asked.

"Eh, no thanks," Ingrit answered, looking down at the hand that still glistened slightly from the dog saliva that was slowly drying. "Maybe next time."

"Jerk," Amanda muttered as she playfully glared at Ingrit, causing her friend to smile.

Again, I love the way they're so playful with one another. It reminds me of me when I'm with the girls at school or on the weekends, except I'm too young to even take Driver's Ed, so minus stealing the car xD
