Summer Blues

Summer Blues

A Poem by Ayana Abraham

The summer is a gorgeous sight to see.

It fills my soul with happiness and bliss.

What I desire is a cool iced tea.

The sweetness gives me a refreshing kiss.

A recollection of my work and life.

Memories start rushing in my tiny mind.

I try to shut them out, but they are rife.

The summer’s sun, I know, has made me blind.

Oh why are you so heinous and so bad?

Leaving me abandoned and forgotten.

The summer makes me happy and raving mad.

Your time has come, just as I am rotting.

All things have a start, and all things have an end.

All things have their rival, all things have their friend.
