To watch this song, YOUTUBE : "RMerritt" and leave me a comment. You'll notice that the last lines in the song on youtube are different than here. These are the finished lyrics, I just didn't feel like re-posting the song cause I have had more views than

"

Lately I tell myself that things are so much better,

but were always telling ourselves things.

I'm so much happier now cause I was so much sadder,

I may be alone but it's okay.

I have found a new routine,

feeling so on top of things,

everything is easier now.

And I don't blame you at all,

cause it has always been my fault,

I can see that so clearly now.

I have allowed myself to try and have some fun,

all of my new friends are so young.

I stay out all night sometimes the next day nothing gets done,

I can do things just how I want.

I have found my new routine,

feeling so on top of things,

everything is easier now.

And I don't blame you at all,

cause it will always be my fault,

I can see that so clearly now.

I'm sure you'll try to forget things,

shouldn't be too hard for you to do.

remember when you gave me your heart baby?

now I'll give it back to you.

Now I'll give it back to...

...give it back to you.

I enjoyed your writing...it had good flow for me! I have also found clarity comes to me...in the strangest of ways...usually through a fault of my own!

First, thanks for your comments re my tunes/lyrics.

Second, I caught "Telling Lies" on YouTube, and it kind of reminded me of the easy-goin' side of a Neil Young/REM blend.

Lyric is relatively sturdy too, in a slice o' life kinda way.

Keep doin' what you're doin' w/an ear toward guitar rhythmic compression/voicings, and a comparable principle in the lyric. It's rather like differences between easy naturalism and collage or more abstract dynamics in painting. It's all about energy, and the quality thereof.

So you can also see it is organic psychology, and that the entire poetics of voice/guitar/lyric (and subsequent arrangements/production values) is about evolving INTENT being more powerful than a more casual extensiveness. . .

The whole issue is simple, yet profound.

You have a good base, just keep challenging yourself in all aspects of intent and meaning.
