Setting: LakeA Story by Sasha GreyThis is a little bit of setting I had to do for my class. I hope you like it.Sunlight dappled through the trees, the scent of spring was in the air, fresh grass and new life. Fresh flowers poked their heads out from below the earth, their vibrant colors shouting out to be seen. A light breeze floated loftily through the air. It was warm, and near blindingly bright in the afternoon. Water from the lake lapped up against the shore, and the whir of the motor boat was faint as it circled the lake, pulling away from the clearing. Laughter came from each direction, filling the place with life, songs blowing through the wind to the ears of passersby. Ever so slowly piquing their interest and bringing them a step closer to us. The air around us glowed with the happiness flowing from our mouths. Peace flutters like butterflies around the group, spreading the joyous noise. A small beach leads down to the water, speckled sand with a rock hidden ever so often. The water was cold to the touch of a toe, at least at first. Rocks skipped seamlessly from the shore, splashing over and over again on the now calm surface of the lake. Then the water swallows the stone whole and it skinks to the black bottom of the lake and lies deep beneath its surface among the water weeds. It could still hear the singing, the tunes of rebirth from the people above, and watch the smaller boats break the stillness of the surface. Like a painting puffy clouds slowly meander across the sky, smiling down at the earth below. Settling to the bottom among piles of its brothers the stone falls to its place. There are few places any one would rather be, the rock was happy in its place, as were each of the grains of the sand littering the beach. © 2014 Sasha GreyAuthor's Note
