Ace-

This is my first chapter to my book of Characters. This description is of a girl nick named "Ace". She's a teenager living in a large city.

Ace-

She always bore that smile of knowing something that everyone else didn’t. She was a manipulative mastermind grown from a corrupt family life. Though that did not excuse her actions, it at least explained her attitude. She was snarky, sarcastic, and dark. Not exactly the best combination for a best friend, especially when her mood bordered cruel. She was alone quite a lot, which didn’t help the whole situation.

 But this is only her outside; it is not all that she is. If you could see inside though, past the mask she put on each day, you could see something, someone quite different. She’s scared, in constant pain and emotional torment. It’s true there is rage deep inside, barley hidden by the others thoughts and impulses. But, that is not the darkest layer, she yearned, longed, needed a shred of control. Some sort of power in the world she found herself in. She needed it, it was necessary.  Or, that’s what she thought.

Confused by her own emotions, her need for control stemmed out of her belief she is a pawn to an unknown master, paranoia gone undiagnosed for far too long. A part of her wished to leave home and begin a new life somewhere far away, but just as loudly her brain argued against it. “You’d never make it alone. What about your family? You couldn’t get a job.” Inwardly she wept; a whirlpool was drowning her inside.

So she puts on a hardened mask of hatred and cruelty, sometimes even evil insanity. “It shuts down the fighting inside,” at least that’s what she claims. And she does her best to control the world around here. Men, women, boyfriends, friends, anyone she comes in contact with. Her control born in fear, raised in pain, and beaten down constantly by life its self.

Author's Note

This one is a little darker, I didn't outline the full character and her history. This is what I posted to my online class. I may edit it and repost it in another chapter later in the book.
