When I met you

When I met you

A Story by Maria
"

Just a short summary of an old love, that never really was much about love, yet it seemed so, but in the end, it was not meant to be.

"
The day I met you, my life changed;
For you woke in me,
a yearning never felt before.

Yet, your eyes, those green eyes
were so dark, and so deep,
And you would always stare into mine.

The day I met you, I thought,
you were different;  never
expected the final outcome.

You were so kind and courteous;
Always saying hello with a hug.
I loved your smell and your touch.

The day I met you, I was so afraid;
And tried my best to keep you
close but not too close.

And you sensed this, and kept
on flirting and making your moves,
to which, I responded in some way.

The day I met you, my life changed;
For bad, and for good, as through
you I learned that no one is perfect.

Thing is you flirted with every girl
that you met, and at times,
you would try and be funny.

Yet, your true nature, would
be tested, and your temper would
arise; outside of that you would be ok.

But you were young still, and would
send mixed signals to different girls.
and I was one of them.

What I loved about you, was
that you had a dog, and not just
any kind, but a Pit Bull.

He was sweet, and gentle,
a tad playful, but otherwise,
all he wanted was to be loved.

I found it much easier to love
him verses loving you because
you were too demanding.

Oh sure, you could cook,
yet you would rather have someone
else do it for you.

Sure I ended opening up my heart
to you, and you did listen,
but somehow, something was a miss.

It all started going downhill, once
my daughter came in the picture
and you started judging her.

She and I had been separated for
three years, so yeah, she would have
separation anxiety and act up.

But hey, you were no parent,
I was, and you had no clue,
of just how sweet she really was.

She knew you hated her, and
in the end, she made sure you knew.
I tried to soften her up, but you ruined that too.

How dare you call her a retard!
And much worse stating she was acting
as a 10 year old, and not a 15 year old!

She was ten years old at the time!!!
And she was acting her age,
and there my heart started to shatter.

Eventually you thought, you knew better,
and started trying to coach me
on parenting issues.

And than, you betrayed me, by taking another
girl out, that was 10 years younger.
She was also a friend.

And you made her believe, that you
loved her with all your heart, yet in the end
you ditched her after 2 weeks.

By that time, your temper was getting worse,
and if I dared say anything
against you, you would lose your cool.

And the day came, in which you found,
your future wife, and she played me too.
In the end, you still helped me.

But alas, the final battle, was yet
to be fought and when it happened,
neither you or I won.

Simply all was lost
and you left me with such a bitter taste,
and my heart was torn to pieces.

And in the end, I could not stand
the sight of you with her,
nor the way, you would treat her.

In the end, I walked away, not
just from you, but from the church,
that had taught me much.

Yet, I admit I only left
because of you, and not being
able to move on.

I have shed many a tear since that day,
and am sure you do not even
care nor do I.

In the end, in spite of the pain
I learned, to not fully trust,
anyone so easily, ever again.

A woman can forgive many things, but mess with her children - out! Get thee behind me, Satan! You can tell a lot about a person by how they treat children. It didn't seem so then, but he did you a huge favor by leaving. This letter to a cad is honest and real. Nicely done.
