Apple Pies

I really love baking and one of my specialty is Fresh baked apple pie.

How I love a scrumptious apple,

red and shiny with a crunch.

And they come in all colors,

and texture too.

Granny Smith are the best

for Apple Pies...

Yet I love to mix them up,

and make my own pies.

Always start with the pie shell,

Flour, water and sugar

plus some cinnamon.

You cannot forget the butter 

of course, as its a very 

important element.

Once its done and kneaded through,

I put it aside.

Wash them apples and 

core them through

before the slicing begins...

Sugar, cinnamon, Nutmeg

and a tad bit of lemon juice

go into the mix.

At times I might add

some extra things,

like almonds, walnuts 

or raisins too.

I let it sit for an

hour or two, 

before rolling out the dough

and placing them

inside the pie dish.

I take my time, to stretch it out,

gingerly, and tenderly.

I place the apples on the inside,

and make puncture holes on top,

after covering the top,

I add a smudge of butter

and sugar on top.

And then into the 

oven it goes, for 

up to 35 minutes or so.

I let the top turn a tad bit

brown, before bringing out the pie.

Oh how it smells and warm 

to the touch, as everyone

awaits it to cool down,

just a tad bit.

And onto a plate, a slice 

goes on, with some

rich, vanilla ice cream scoop.

After that, it can last up to a day

or two, depending on how

much you eat in the day.

The aroma fills up the entire house,

and everyone, savors what is to come.

I love to bake my apple pies,

from scratch, and make em

I envy you this, my husband is a phenomenal baker and loves baking anything with 15 or more ingredients and at least 20 steps! I would be completely insane just gathering the ingredients! Your apple pie sounds scrumptious. I'm a Bisquick kinda baker myself....

Nothing wrong with Bisquick, ya know. That is so cool. Yeah. Apple Pies are my main specialty, aside from that I make cobblers and cheesecakes, plus a various sort of cookies, from Nutella to Hazelnut and Peanut butter with chocolate chips too.

This poem really brought back some fond memories for me. When I was little, my family and I would go to my grandmother's house. In the backyard, everyone would get together at the picnic bench with tall trees an woods as a backdrop. My grandmother would bring out the apple pies still hot and smelling great. I'm glad I read this, thanks.
