Ocean blue

Ocean blue

A Poem by Maria
"

From since I can remember I have always loved going to the beach, being inside the ocean, even though I have been close to drowning more than once...I still love going out to the sea.

"
How I miss the ocean blue!
To smell, that fine, salty breeze,
that flows through many palm trees...
How I miss the feel of the sea!
The feel of the water, against my skin,
so soothing and cool, and so refreshing...
How I miss the ocean blue!
Feel of the sand, against my feet, even if it burns,
just a tad bit. Rubbing it against my skin,
to feel the roughness of the sea...
How I miss the bright, blue sky!
As the sun arises, each new morn, filling
it with colors and spreading its light, to the ocean blue
and to the sea...
for even the birds, await the sun, to go out and and spread,
their feeble wings!
How I miss the smell of the sea!
For it fills my heart anew with life, and takes away all worry
and frustrations!
How I wish to live in the sea!
And see all its wondrous creatures! from whales to sharks and fish of many a kind, and to be able to breathe underneath,
without the worry of dying..
How I miss the heat of the sun!
As it slowly, opens up my pores, and turns my skin a darker shade,
so soothing yet dangerous.  The warmth fills me up to my soul and alas, I wonder, how cannot I be anywhere else but here.
For I dream of the sea, and live to be part of the sea, and live wondering, when I will get another chance to be with you, on the shore, of the ocean blue, and just sitting aloft on that soft, yet starchy sand; enjoying the view, the warmth and the quiet.
How I miss that ocean blue!

Me too. I miss the sea. When I was in the service. I was station in Monterey and the Georgia coastline. I liked your description. The sea is wonderful. Can't be controlled and allow us to know some peace when she is near. Thank you Maria for sharing the amazing poetry.

This is a great poem that conveys much feeling, especially enthusiasm about your topic. I like the uninhibited expression you use, rather than being formal or structured or perfectly pruned. You have a few too many commas for my liking & the word "blue" is overused (wishing you reached for some similar words like cornflower or cobalt) . . . but these imperfections are completely OK becuz of the way everything, taken together, is a word painting of the very enthusiasm you're describing. Like a puppy jumping up & peeing a little, this poem feels so familiar & so transparently revealing how the narrator REALLY feels!

Those special lines took away my attention and heart. Even, I puzzled now with a question "How I miss that ocean blue!"?? Great work friend :)
