NEXT STOP

NEXT STOP

A Poem by Mockingbird

an airtight smile
loiters on her
empty face.

at first it transfixes
then perplexes
the beholder.

she sits amidst crowded pews
listening to closing doors
and bells of departures
compelled to run away
from an eventual past.

a phantom destiny
lies beyond this
foreclosed present.

armed with valuable nothings
she chooses a car to anywhere
as a random map unfolds
to unknown destinations.

ferries and trains
or the kindness of strangers
there's always some place else to go.

but there is solace
in the usual haunt
away from pursuers
away from the rain.

bed and breakfast
and little yellow pills
from the men in white coats
who know her so well.

she goes through the motions
she's been there before
til she gladly leaves
for the next destination.

A very well written piece my friend, as is all your work.

Free spirited vibes flowing this piece but also a hint of self reliance, despair, and solitude.

I enjoyed reading this one!

Rich with beautiful phrases. Airtight smiles and valuable nothings. Choice wordage. A girding herself on the run, or a girl on the run finding hther way floats my boat.

I particularly like the even pace to this...to me, pace and flow are different things...the focus remains held tightly throughout it all, great piece xoxo

Yes, the crazy ones always dream of running away, and while the scene always changes the dream stays the same. Your flow of imagery in this write is brilliant, so true to form in everything you write (or most of it, anyway), and, as usual, great choice of titles. Wow, nice work!

This poem is beautiful. My favourite line is where you said...

("she chooses a car to anywhere
as a random map unfolds
to unknown destinations".)

keep it up. the words you use too are wise and conscious
to the mind.

You have used your vivid imagination to allow the reader to experience how life can some times feel like 'Deja vu' as we journey into the unknown untill we reach our destination.

A very well thought out write.... well done :o)

A haunting of dismay, a fleeting from captivity...a never ending...ending! Says plenty! Love the way you wrote this :)
