Last Vacancy

Last Vacancy

A Poem by Mockingbird

drawn to the sizzle of a neon vacancy
blinking rouge et noir
like roulette on the retinas
the moth bets red
his fate is sealed.
the wary traveler turns back to black
where cicadas buzz bye.

walking through styx
the ivied bower looms
beneath the dusty quill.
paper breezes deceive
the noble pursuit.
beyond the vines the walls are lined
with ivory monuments
hollow and decaying.

echoes of a celestial aria
beckon the errant to the rock.
within stained panes repentant flames
adorn the tell-tale crown
the flock sing praises
the judge abases
submit to dogma or kindly be damned.

the canon on high breaks the trance on time
one of the fold escapes the hallowed blade.
the humming brights light the road like a strobe
burning the grime from the flesh.

all bets are off
he follows the moth
the last entry in a time-worn registry
the key is granted to the last vacancy.

I need a translator for this Mockingbird . No offense but i felt mocked by your genius mind . Flowers for algernon wouldn't be a bad solution .

Ah I'm filled with so much envy .
I'll work for you for free ?
If you'll teach me poetry

I've watched Kung Fu Panda several times . Raised as noodle maker he had a dream of learning martial arts or at least see his favorite idols in actions . Then by some divine fate he was chosen to be the next Dragon Warrior . The problem is ...he doesn't know a single kung fu move . Then someone finally starts to believe for him and in him .and he did in the end reached and achieved his full potential . And there was someone willing to nurture it . .. Why am I even saying this . It went from poetry to kung fu panda .

you run the gambit with this imaginative piece, again your word choice is prime for the taking, such blessed death in the space of living between each corralled stanza, the timing is the thick blood of this living entity vacancy...amazing stuff

The choice of insects here is quite fitting, as well as the tempo of the lines.
I never trust the instinct of a moth when near man-made light.

Wow! And more Wow!
Woven tight, like a water vessel, only this contains the facet and paradox of the Human condition, ever searching for place.
Absolutely gorgeous poetry. I am in awe.

You have a way with words, quite resplendent. Never boring and never predictable. Well done again :)
