![]() AIRPORTA Poem by Mockingbird
it's coming down and she's walking out
with the belongings she's allowed to take. the rest is his. she's only seen this in the movies taking off in a taxi in the rain headed for the airport. she should turn around and come right back. but it was too late the second she walked out the door. deaf to beseeching she steels herself and leaves. what if no one is there to pick her up it took months to build up the courage. she's boarded the plane. she's on auto-pilot. what if words are only words maybe distance makes them seem real his words were more than words to her they were vows. she watches the earth getting closer. she wonders what she was thinking. there is no one at the gate. like everyone else they say they're meant to be together. laughable. she's reached baggage claims and waits. © 2014 MockingbirdReviews
