AQUA

AQUA

A Poem by Mockingbird
"

forgive the schmaltz. it's inevitable sometimes.

"
Mediterranean blue eyes
Aqua as the waters of Cypress
I remember them with beguiling clarity.

Still transfixed as on
That snowy night
Bathed in candlelight
I saw their changing hues
As my skin burned
Beneath your gaze.

The wine was sweet
As I read you Keats
Who reminded me of
The Melancholy to come.

The beginning of the end
Of which we were fated
Just a stop on your journey
I already knew...

I've long forgotten your face, love
But I'll never forget the hues of those
Mediterranean blues.
