The things that go down this night
Make room for what we stood up to fight.
If only they saw us living the way we do.
Hanging our heads past the warnings, I guess we always knew.
Backs breaking, hearts aching.
I can't do anything about these times.
Beads of sweat racing, the shadows are shaking.
I can only be a part of. Is that it? Fine.
Kids playing in the yards
Only to think that they know who they are.
Funny how much of us don't care
About anything or anyone. It's not fair.
But life was different from the start.
It sucks and we know that's the way things are.
I just don't know how I'm going to try,
But one thing's for sure I cannot deny.
This is what we do, life is the way we make it.
We were built to be brave that's how we've got to take it.
Who are we to judge on the things that make us cry?
What if we were to live like we can pass on by?
Without a single word, without a single second,
What are we to be as the dark in us beckons?
It took me this long to finally hit me.
So change happens.
For the better I'll believe.
What ever life decides to throw at me,
I'll think about what it's truly meant to be.
