The Tear-shed

The Tear-shed

A Poem by Merci

You Held on
You held him in your arms
to afraid to set him down
to cause him any harm

a belt of red around his head
a racing in your heart
you don't want to end
what hasn't had a start

I feel it now like a static in the wind
the hair raising off my body
and the tightening of my skin

don't fear please
don't worry, not for me,
I'm here right beside you
the safest place to be.

we will walk together one day
your hand holding mine
our father told me so
he said you will be fine.

maybe not today or the day after that
but one day not too distant you we be where I'm at.
