Nonexistent

Nonexistent

A Poem by Mercedes Childers

I seen it from the corner of my eye as

I was walking down the street.

I turned around and it was gone,

It refused to let me peak.

The image that popped into my mind

Had nearly made me shriek.

If that’s the thing I feel watching me,

I’m doomed if it gets close to me.

But it wasn’t even there,

And really, that’s what gets to me.

It’s evil, dangerous, and will instantly kill me

But it only exists when I think.

My mind is what scares me,

And I’m terrified of what I can’t see.
