MaybeA Poem by MerancapemanI feel like this way too often...
Holding up your hope like a billboard
Waiting for a passing glance You gotta believe that with your heart on your sleeve There will be someone there to give you a chance You could be oh so right in assuming but just as bad you could be oh so wrong Your will could be crushed by the rush of her going And your hope was coming on too strong Maybe, maybe, never was a word so lost To play with the hope of a blind man on the knife Maybe, maybe, it all comes at the cost Of dreaming and believing you could live a better life Maybe there's a better way to find it But as long as my heart doesn't mind it I'll go on Maybe she just wants your friendship Tell me why does that burn so deep? You could wait it out or talk about everything else But does she know you want to play for keeps? Maybe she's this way with everyone And she's happy being on her own It could be that she sees you as a personal comfort Even then you're feeling more alone. Maybe so, and maybe no You got to wonder what she thinks about The way she gazed into your eyes Had once dispelled the doubt Your mind flashes up like a TV screen And you watch it all unfold Point out things like you know it's wrong But the truth is still untold. Maybe, maybe, never was a word so lost To play with the hope of a blind man on the knife Maybe, maybe, it all comes at the cost Of dreaming and believing you could live a better life Maybe there's a better way to find it But as long as my heart doesn't mind it I'll go on © 2010 Merancapeman |
