Dwell

Dwell

A Poem by Meraki

We all have it
That deep dark corner in our mind
Where we all just sit
Stare
Think

That's where they find us
The negative
The corrupt
Those awful things
That lurk in the shadows

They surround us
Smother us
Their abundance makes them hard to see passed
Some of us are more familiar with them
Than we truly care to be

That escape
That light growing smaller
With every darkness added to the crowd

And we wish
For someone to find us
For someone to save the day
Until we remember

It was us
That locked ourselves inside this cage

Please don't misunderstand this. I'm not saying mental illnesses, particularly depression and anxiety in this case, are voluntary. I'm saying that sometimes we get stuck in dwelling.
