Flesh

Flesh

A Chapter by Meraki

I saw a man die today
Well, he didn't really die
Not in the conventional way

He just sort of
Froze

Yea,
He froze

His heart didn't stop beating
I heard it
Nor did his breathing
I felt it
But he stopped moving

So what did I do?

I took him to the basement
And slowly filleted his skin

It reminded me of those times
I went hunting with my dad
I'd skin the animals
I gutted them

I'd hang them upside-down
And watch the blood
Drip, drip, drip

Sigh,
The human body is a beautiful thing
The way the muscle, bone, and sinew
Work together

A work of art
If I do say so myself

I wonder how everyone else
Will feel about it

Oh, I never did finish my story
Did I?

He didn't die in the conventional way
His heart is still beating
I see it

What a nice touch
His eyes are blinking

A perfect feature in my masterpiece

I think I'll call it

Flesh
