Dark lights

Dark lights

A Poem by Meraki

Their smiles
Oh their smiles were so bright
Oblivious to the carnage
Meer inches from their feet
They didn't know

"They didn't know?"

They believed they were different
They didn't know their
Ignorance could sabotage
Such innocent dreams
I told them

"You told them?"

I warned them
Now my lights have faded

You see,
The brighter you are
The darker the black

The higher you are
The further the fall

"You told them.
They knew.
Their ignorance
Impaired them
They fell.
And so the little lights
Have faded.
The blackest dark is what they are.
Just dark lights below."
