Carousel

Carousel

A Poem by Meraki

Round and round
In circles we go
This world is a carousel
You know

Chasing love
Fortune and fame
Peace on Earth
I'm sure that's why you came

Chasing chasing
Always behind
Stuck at a distance
Let's pick up the pace

Come to me my
Carousel horse
Gilded with gold and covered in ribbons
Smiling back flashing
Those pearly white teeth

Chasing chasing
It's like a dream
But we're glued to the floors
Just out of reach

Smiling smiling
I bet my heart
Just one last turn, I thought
Pushing the silver disc
Through the slot

Laughing laughing
Take advantage of my ignorance
Arrogance
My hope
I'm naive, I know

Round and round
In circles we go
This world
This world is a carousel
You know

When will it ever stop?
