I owe to youA Poem by Darby RaeOLDThe
teacher who opened my eyes, the
one who looked inside my heart.
She
showed me a world, a
world I could create.
She
pulled me out of my simple mind and
led me to a world beyond my dreams.
She
let me explore the very ties, that
connected reality and make believe.
I
was a lost confused little girl walking
around in to small of a world.
Then
she gave me a book and sat me down, in
a little place where no one made a sound.
There
my eyes opened up and
all my creations slowly crept out.
Her
room became something comfy and familiar, it
was my safe haven, my shield protecting me from the world.
She
once gave us a project, to
describe a place we liked.
I
worked hard into the night, just
to impress the teacher I liked.
When
she heard me read it, it astounded her really and
I cherish her words so very deeply.
Those
days were the best, but
sadly good things never last.
And
now I’m getting older, and
those days are starting to fade away.
But
somehow I still remember, the
one who showed me how to be myself.
To
walk above the world, to
never change who you are.
I
owe that to you, If
it wasn't for you I would never have become me, © 2012 Darby RaeAuthor's Note
