Odd Ball

Odd Ball

A Poem by Darby Rae

Little girl with dreamy eyes

Gave the world a sweet goodbye

She ran away in a flash

Taking nothing but a stash

Of secret notes to boys shell never meet

And to tiny mice, who she clams speak

What a strange child

That leaves reality behind

To catch the next wind

And watch time fly by

A Little girl, who says everything out loud

Has so much to present at show and tell

She’ll never try to sit in place

Or walk in line at a steady pace

Identical socks will never meet

As long one is upon her feet

She will bend over backwards

When you tell her to stand straight

And slide the “good things”

Off of her plate

She holds onto balloons

And cries she’s flying away

She will roll up her sleeves

And cakes herself in mud

She loves to have things

No one else wants

So she can have the title

Of being The Only One

So in the minds of others she’s a fool

But she cannot stop it

She has always been this way

She took it upon herself

To give the world a run for its money

They may call her weird

Or just a little bit strange

But it doesn't bother her

They just don’t understand

That life is too short

To all be the same
